A warning to The Canadian Action Party

As a very small fringe party The Canadian Action Party not only has to work harder just to exist but must also remain vigilant against those who would hijack the party to move it in a different ideological direction, to eliminate it as a perceived threat to its own ideological position or membership.  Even a hostile takeover as a prelude to a future merger is not out of the question.
Now before you dismiss this as paranoia, keep in mind this has been done many times before and is a common part of politics in Canada. One need only look at the fate of the Reform party as an example. After the near decimation of the Concretive party after the Mulroney years they simply hijacked the Reform and the values of the once grass roots party were quickly dumped by party turn coat Steven Harper.
I believe that CAP is right now in a very precarious position and that we are in a very real danger of losing our ideological direction to a leftist agenda that is sweeping this country, one that has a hidden agenda of divesting this country of its national sovereignty, which in my opinion opposes the fundamental position of CAP.
I believe most of the membership of this party has joined CAP for two main reasons, one is our Banking policies and the other our stance on national sovereignty. One way that CAP can be eliminated as a threat is by diluting its message. By pushing side policies and focusing on subjects like pipeline politics or the problems with a capitalistic system we risk alienating the party’s traditional base support and diluting what has been our fundamental message.
Another way this party is under attack is an influx of new membership that doesn’t really agree with our fundamental ideologies. They may make a play for party leadership and positions on the national executive before a national convention can be held. By manipulating the agenda and conception of party management these people can obtain the position required to take the party so far off track to make it ineffectual and open to take over or absorption by the time a convention is held.
There is already an element within this party that will dismiss this warning as the paranoid ramblings of the old guard of the party and convince you that a new direction is necessary to obtain power to put forth the agenda of this party. At this I would ask you power at what cost?
Canada currently has an ultra-right wing government which may have very well come to power in an illegitimate manner. Because of this we have seen an increase of the far left of the political spectrum that are just as corrupt in their lust for power and control in this country and it is that agenda that I believe are now trying to influence the direction of this party.
I call on all party members to become more vigilant in the defense of this party and become more involved with the inner workings of the party on a day to day basis. Without your help this party will cease to exist or worst still become something you will no longer wish to support.

  1. We have too many parties as it is and that splits up some of the voting, thereby allowing a party to gain power. I don't like our system, that whomever is the leader of the party with the most candidates becomes the PM. I wish we could directly vote for the man we want to see as our PM.
